EAHS Students: Registration Open for the Seal of Biliteracy Estudiantes de EAHS: Inscripción para el Sello de Alfabetización Bilingüe esta abierto

Registration is open for East Aurora High School (EAHS) students to register to take the AAPPL assessment to earn the Seal of Biliteracy. East High students can register for the AAPPL exam by filling out this form. At-home testing will take place Saturday, October 8, 2022.

To earn the Seal of Biliteracy, students must qualify in both English and another language. Students are welcome to register to take both the English and world language tests; to do so, they should complete the form once for each language. Please contact Mr. Kelly Henkel in room 172 at EAHS or at khenkel@d131.org with any questions.

The Illinois State Seal of Biliteracy is an award bestowed by the Illinois State Board of Education and given by District 131 in recognition of students who have attained a high level of proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English by high school graduation. 

The Seal marks the attainment of student proficiency in two or more languages.  The Seal is a statement of accomplishment for future employers and college admissions, thus making a student a more appealing candidate for admissions and future employment.

Benefits include earning two years of foreign language credit at any Illinois public university. By law, Illinois public universities will accept the State Seal of Biliteracy as an equivalent of two (2) years of foreign language coursework taken during high school if a student’s high school transcript indicates that he or she received the State Seal of Biliteracy. Many universities waive any foreign language requirements and/or grant course credit for students who have earned the Seal of Biliteracy.

Los estudiantes de East Aurora High School ya pueden inscribirse/registrarse en tomar la evaluación de AAPPL (por sus siglas en inglés) para obtener el Sello de Alfabetización Bilingüe. Los estudiantes de East High pueden inscribirse/registrarse para la evaluación AAPPL haciendo clic en este enlace. La inscripción/registración está disponible y las pruebas en casa tendrán lugar el sábado 8 de octubre de 2022.

Para obtener el Sello de Alfabetización Bilingüe, los estudiantes deben cualificar en inglés y otro idioma. Los estudiantes son bienvenidos a inscribirse/registrarse para tomar ambos exámenes de inglés e idiomas mundiales. En este caso, deben completar el formulario una vez para cada idioma. El Sello de Alfabetización Bilingüe del Estado de Illinois es un premio otorgado por la Junta de Educación del Estado de Illinois y concedido por el Distrito 131 para el reconocimiento de los estudiantes que obtenieron un nivel alto del dominio en un idioma o más, junto con el inglés antes de la graduación de la preparatoria.

El Sello marca el logro de dominio del estudiante en dos idiomas o más. El Sello es una declaración de logro para los futuros empleadores y las admisiones universitarias, así el estudiante se aparece como un candidato más interesante para ellos.

Los beneficios incluyen obtener el crédito por dos años de un idioma extranjero en cualquier universidad pública de Illinois. Por la ley, si el expediente académico de la preparatoria del estudiante indica que el o ella recibió el Sello Estatal de Alfabetización Bilingüe, las universidades públicas de Illinois aceptarán el Sello Estatal de Alfabetización Bilingüe como un equivalente de dos años de trabajo del curso en un idioma extranjero hecho durante la preparatoria. Muchas universidades renuncian cualquier requisitos de idiomas extranjeros y/o conceden el crédito del curso para los estudiantes que han obtenido el Sello de Alfabetización Bilingüe.
